UAE- Mother of baby left on terrace found, arrested

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police on Wednesday arrested the 32-year-old Filipina mother of the abandoned baby found on the terrace of a house located in Al Ramllah area.

A top police official said the mother was found to be living in the same house as where the baby was found.

During interrogation, the mother told the CID official that was pregnant while she was in the Philipines, but discovered that she was pregnant after she reached Dubai. After the baby was born, she decided to get rid of the him because he is an illegal baby.

According to the police, the baby is in good condition after he received medical treatment at Al Qasimi Hospital. The baby was initially transferred to the social service department and has now been moved to Dar Aman house (a service provided by the Sharjah central jail for children of inmates) as his mother has been found and is in jail. The police have said that they will force the mother to take care of the child in the jail under supervision.

On July 16, the police rescued the two-day-old baby who was exposed to extreme heat on the terrace after they received a call from a neighbour. The baby was soon taken to the hospital.

Three women and a man, all Filipinos, living in the same house have been arrested.
