Jordan, Indonesia officials discuss economic ties


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug. 2 (Petra) -- The Chairman of Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Issa Haider Murad, on Tuesday praised as "distinguished" Jordanian-Indonesian relations at all levels, especially political ones, as they were boosted during His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to Jakarta in 2015, which saw the signing of a number of economic agreements between the two countries.

During a meeting with an Indonesian economic delegation, which is currently visiting Jordan, said the trade balance is almost equal between the two countries but doesn't reflect the available potentials in the two countries, stressing the Jordanian commercial sector's keenness to increase the volume of the two-way trade exchange and increase the commodity base to include various Jordanian industry products as well as exports of fertilizers and chemicals.

He noted that Jordan and Indonesia have successfully managed to set up joint ventures in phosphate fertilizers industry, stressing the importance of building on these successes in establishing of joint projects and exchanging of products' exhibitions in both countries.

Head of the delegation and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Islamic nations and countries of the Middle East at the Union of Indonesian Chambers, Fakhri Thiab, said the private sector in Indonesia is ready to provide recommendations to establish businesses in Indonesia and abroad, especially in East Asian countries in many fields, to meet the needs and aspirations of Jordanian traders and Jordan's business community.

He stressed his country's keenness to set up renewable energy projects, raise energy efficiency in populated islands, and exchange expertise with Jordan in this area.
