Jordan- Minister announces JD77 million worth of projects in Karak in 2016


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Karak, Aug. 2 (Petra) -- Minister of Planning and International Development, Imad Fakhoury, said total public expenditure in Karak governorate amounted to JD77.2, as part of the 2016 Karak Governorate Development Program.

In a meeting held in Karak governorate, southern Amman, on Tuesday as part of the minister's field visits to the Kingdom's governorates to highlight achievements of the governorates development programs 2016-2018, Fakhoury underlined the 2016 Karak Governorate Development Program's achievements.

He said new priorities will be set, through a governorate local team, to allocate the remaining funds for infrastructure projects in 2017-2018, as per a cabinet decision in this regard at the value of JD150 million for 2017 and JD200 million for 2018.

Fakhoury noted that the ministry, in coordination with various partners and through available financing instruments, will provide the necessary funding for setting up developmental priorities and needs included in the 2016 Karak governorate development program.

The minister added that his ministry has circulated governorates' programs at ministries and government institutions to be adopted as a reference to government's efforts in governorates when preparing their budgets, including the Karak governorate, where a JD62 million worth of government projects are expected to be implemented in Karak in 2016.
