Audi Oman appoints new GM

Wattayah Motors, the exclusive importer and distributor of Audi vehicles in Oman, has announced the appointment of David Ryan as a general manager, effective March 1, 2016.

He will be part of Audi Oman's dynamic top management team with responsibilities across the brand. Ryan comes with a sound understanding of dealer operations and financials and to his credit has achieved industry benchmarks from previous roles in the automotive sector. Heading the Oman operations, his expertise and experience in sales and customer service will encompass all aspects of dealership operations, a statement said.

After completing his degree in automotive management in 1986 from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland, he spent two years in the US working with Hyundai and Mitsubishi. He then moved to the UK and started his career with Volvo in 1989 at the dealer store in South East London. He worked for Pendragon Plc before running his own business as director/owner of DR Automobiles Ltd in 2001.

In 2008, he was appointed business manager of Mercedes-Benz in the UK. He went on to become the sales director at Lookers Plc's Mercedes division where he was responsible for sales operations across three Mercedes-Benz and smart dealerships until 2015.
