Oman- Value of real estate deals stands at RO6.17bn in H1

Dr Ali bin Azzan al Hashami, assistant secretary of the Real Estate Registry in the Ministry of Housing said that the value of traded contracts in the real estate sector stood at RO6,175,585,328in the first half of 2016 while the collected fee stood at RO42,594,598.

He added in a press statement that the number of real estate transactions across the sultanate during the period stood at 214,979 including sale, donation, inheritance, exchange, mortgage and division transactions.

He said that the value of the 40,262 sale contracts touched RO570,097,351 and the collected fee from the same was RO20,356,665.

The value of the exchanged contracts stood at RO3,991,998 and the collected fee from the same was RO78,487. The value of mortgage contracts stood at RO5,601,575,977 and the collected fee from the same was RO5,329,778.

Dr Hashami said that in terms of sale contracts registered in various governorates, North Batinah recorded the highest number of sale contracts during the first half of 2016 with 8,605 followed by South Batinah (7,543), Muscat (6,917), Dakhliyah (4,487), North Sharqiyah (2,850), South Sharqiyah (2,622), Dhahirah (2,535), Dhofar (2,490), Buraimi (1,122), Al Wusta (966) and Musandam (125). He further said that the mortgage contracts in Muscat have been the highest compared to other governorates during the first half of 2016 with 3,837 followed by North Batinah (2,014), South Batinah (1,983), Dakhliyah (1,620), Dhofar (974), North Sharqiyah (826), Dhahirah (739), South Sharqiyah (624), Buraimi (213), Al Wusta (180) and Musandam (72).

Dr Hashami added that during the first half of this year, 138,633 title deeds were issued including the ones issued to GCC nationals. The highest number was issued in Muscat (28,573), followed by North Batinah (27,845), South Batinah (22,601), Dakhliyah (16,621), Dhahirah (11,409), North Sharqiyah (10,265), South Sharqiyah (7,493), Dhofar (8,094), Buraimi (3,140), Al Wusta (1,971) and Musandam (621). The number of land plots registered for the first time during the first half of 2016 stood at 32,264.

'The total number of title deeds issued to GCC nationals during the first half of 2016 as per the sultanate's property possession rules and regulations stood at 995. Kuwaitis came first with 449 comprising 45.1 per cent, followed by Emiratis with 439 constituting 44.1 per cent, Saudis with 43 comprising 4.3 per cent and Bahrainis with 34 constituting 3.4 per cent and Qataris with 30 comprising three per cent. The possession by GCC nationals in North Batinah comprised 30.5 per cent at 303 owners followed by Dhofar (29.2 per cent) at 291 owners,' he said.
