Road to Jabal Jais to have four traffic posts

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) To control the number of traffic accidents on the road leading to the UAE's highest mountain - Jabal Jais - the Ras Al Khaimah Police will have four traffic points on the road in the first quarter of next year. The traffic points will provide police services like patrols and ambulance and rescue operations.

Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Sam Al Naqbi, head of traffic engineering at the traffic and patrols department, RAK Police, said the new traffic substations will improve the police's response time to traffic accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow.

"The Jabal Jais is one of the main tourist sites of Ras Al Khaimah which attracts a large number of visitors due to its serene atmosphere and fine weather," said Al Naqbi. "The promising project, which will be carried out in collaboration with the RAK department of public works and services, will make trips safer on the road."

The four planned traffic points are evenly distributed on the road to the summit to provide traffic and rescue services as early as possible, he explained.

The mountain is a popular getaway for residents as it records cooler temperatures than the rest of the country. On average, temperatures here are about 10 Celsius lower.

All the major landmarks of the UAE recorded temperatures between 43 and 45 Celsius during the third week of July. However, on the Jabal Jais, the average temperature was 31 Celsius during the day and 27 Celsius in the late afternoon.
