Consumers Reveal Reading Still a Favorite Summer Pastime
Only 57% of Americas interested in ";16 Olympic Games
WARREN, NJ (July 29, 2016) - With 93 days of summer, Americans are hitting the beach and the books. According to the latest Lightspeed GMI consumer pulse poll, 31% of respondents will visit the beach this year, 11% plan on city sightseeing and 10% will plan a hiking/nature trip. However, 32% are staying put: 13% say they";ll stay home and just enjoy time off, and 19% (20% of female and 16% of males respondents) are forgoing a summertime vacation altogether.

Could it be Olympic fever that";s keeping the non-vacationers close to home? While numerous news reports have expressed concerns about the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, the opening ceremony of is on for Friday, August 5th in the Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro. Despite the negative press, 57% of respondents will watch as many events as possible; however, 43% of respondents aren";t interested in watching any of the 2016 Olympic Games.
