The 17th edition of Modhesh World has just become a creative writer's haven for children who dream of becoming authors. This year the region's popular indoor theme park has launched the Modhesh World Young Author Award 2016, which aims to highlight the edutainment element of the theme park and boost creativity among children.

The novel competition is inspired by the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to encourage the educational empowerment of the younger generation. This initiative will give children the opportunity to further enhance and develop their creative writing skills.

Started on July 28, and running till August 21, the competition is open to children from the age of seven to 13 who have a passion for writing and yearn to try their hand at penning their first story at Modhesh World. They will visualise their very own fiction story starring the loveable Modhesh while incorporating their thrilling experience of a plethora of rides, games and immersive activities in an indoor theme park setting.

All they have to do is register for the competition by visiting any Information desk at Modhesh World to collect their registration booklets during their visit, and then go back home and write out their story in not more than 350 words. Participants can submit their scanned stories to Modhesh World via email (to ), or by submitting their write-ups in Modhesh World's Media Centre located in hall No.6 of Dubai World Trade Centre.

Shortlisted stories will then be reviewed by prominent local writers and authors, the entries will be judged on the basis of handwriting skills, creativity, and language. Six winners - three in the English category and three in the Arabic category - will walk away with cash prizes, of Dh3,000, Dh2,000 and Dh1,000, for first, second and third place respectively on August 25, during the grand finale of the competition, set to take place in Modhesh World.

Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Laila Mohammed Suhail, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), and the organisers of Modhesh World, said: "We are very pleased to launch the Modhesh World Young Author Award 2016, especially since it reflects His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision for offering valuable learning opportunities to the younger generation and to empower the youth of today with key educational elements and attributes. It also embodies our main objective of organising Modhesh World, which is inspiring young minds through fun and entertainment."

Since its launch in 2000, Modhesh World has been the ideal place for children of all ages and nationalities to make new friends, learn something new through various immersive activities, cherish family bonding moments and come away exhilarated after trying the various action packed offerings at the theme park. Modhesh World Young Author Award 2016 is just one of the many novel initiatives introduced at Modhesh World 2016.
