Jordan- Foreign minister discusses ties, Mideast with Cypriot president, FM


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Nicosia, July 29 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affiars Nasser Judeh on Friday discussed with President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades bilateral ties and means to boost them as well as the latest developments in the Middle East.

During a meeting held in Nicosia, Judeh stressed the importance of building upon the Cypriot president's recent visit to the Kingdom.

President Nicos Anastasiades praised ties between Jordan and Cyprus, while expressing appreciation of and respect to the role played by His Majesty King Abdullah to enhance security and stability in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Judeh met with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides and discussed scopes of cooperation and the latest developments in the region. The two ministers also discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties in tourism and energy fields, as well as efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

Judeh reiterated Jordan's constant position on the Palestinian cause and the importance of re-launching serious and viable peace process in the Middle East. The foreign minister also spoke about the Kingdom's position on various regional issues in Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iraq.

Judeh spoke about the burdens being borne by Jordan as a result of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, while calling on the international community to help the Kingdom to continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian refugees.
