China commits to drastic rules to reduce pollution


(MENAFN) China shut down 20,000 plants and received USD654 billion as fine from polluters throughout the previous year, as it has initiated tough actions against polluting industries.

A total of 34,000 plants had to halt production for not complying with the environmental guidelines amid the country's nationwide inspection which included 1.77 million enterprises.

Basically, 97,000 administrative orders were issued, with a total penalty of USD654bn, a jump of 34pct from 2014's figures, plus approval for projects in 20 cities were also suspended.

Furthermore, the world's 2nd largest economy has been experiencing with worsening air pollution and environmental degradation, which is an offshoot of unbridled growth of factories.
