Two Turkish Police Officers Killed in PKK Attack in Southeastern Turkey


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ankara, July 28 (QNA) - Two Turkish police officers were killed and ten other officers were injured Thursday in a car bomb attack by PKK militants on a police station in the southeast province of Hakkari, security sources told Turkish Anadolu Agency (AA).
One civilian was injured in the attack.
Militants detonated the bomb at the entrance to the city located near a security checkpoint, according to security sources.
The wounded are being treated at Hakkari State Hospital.
An operation to arrest the militants is underway in the region, sources added.
Since then, nearly 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guards have been martyred and more than 7,700 PKK militants killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq. (QNA)
