It is organised by Qatar Charity";s (QC) Community Development Centre, Al Khor branch.

The programme";s theme is ‘Enjoy Better Summer with Us";, the second edition that targets over 100 students from primary and preparatory levels and is supervised by qualified teachers.

It includes educational, cultural and artistic activities, a sports championship, multiple trips, meetings and competitions. Sports activities include football, swimming, archery, horseriding, and electronic games. Arts activities include workshops for handmade things and drawing classes, including paper, glass and woods and workshops on Arabic calligraphy.

The centre will present prizes to distinguished students.

Khamis Al Mureikhi, Director of the centre, said, 'This activity is part of an awareness series we hold all year long.

The centre tries to discuss a certain topic in each event and develops new programmes with a focus on previous ones. In summer vacations, we try to focus on our students so to invest their free time in useful and entertaining activities, such activities would reinforce values and improve mental and kinetic skills. We also encourage parents in Al Khor to make use of such summer activity.” He said activities include memorising Surat Ar Rahman and An Nazi";at and multiple hadiths and memorisation competitions; voluntary activities to serve the community; visiting Qatar";s important places and media outlets; and attending sessions (majalis) in Al Khor and Doha. 'This year";s edition has room for more students than last year,” he added.

Al Mureikhi thanked Al Khor Cultural Centre, Al Khor Club, Qatar Red Crescent Society and Abdullah Al Masnad Preparatory and Secondary Schools for helping the centre make the events successful.

All are invited to join the centre";s programmes, including summer activities by contacting the centre or calling 50014572. Other community centres that are part of QC will soon inaugurate programmes and summer camps for students (males and females separately) across the country.
