Sultan Al Qasimi regulates Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services

SHARJAH, 27th July, 2016 (WAM) H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued Emiri Decree No. 48 of 2016 regarding the restructuring of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.

Under the decree, a civil foundation in the emirate will be established to empower people with special needs under the name the "Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services". It enjoys body corporate status and shall take the necessary legal actions to achieve its objectives, as well as autonomous budget and administrative status.

The decree also states that the main headquarters of the city will be in Sharjah. It has a right to establish other branches in the emirate upon a decision of Director-General.

The foundation aims to advocate for persons with disabilities and to defend their rights in rehabilitation, education, employment and access to suitable job opportunities, according to the laws and regulations in force in the UAE, which provide protection.

The foundation's funds will come from public, and will be exempted from all local taxes and fees.

This decree annuls previous decree No. 4 of 1995. It is effective from the date of its issuance, meanwhile competent authorities should implement its provisions. The decree shall be published in the Official Gazette.
