Qatar condemns attacks on African Union Mission in Somalia

DOHA, 26th July, 2016 (WAM) -- The State of Qatar has expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack, that targeted the area around Mogadishu airport, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries from the African Union peacekeeping troops, private security forces and civilians.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar's solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia, and the mission of the African Union, especially in light of its role in establishing peace and stability in Somalia, and maintaining its unity and sovereignty, and standing with the people of Somalia, according to Qatar News Agency,QNA,.

The statement also renewed Qatar's firm position which rejects violence and terrorism in all their forms and manifestations, and whatever their sources and motives .

The statement expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government, people of Somalia and the African Union, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
