Pakistan's auto industry pushes economy to safe zone

(MENAFN) Top automakers saw their sales and profits enjoy a significant surge in Pakistan over last year as the Islamic Republic witnessed a substantial growth in its auto industry, according to the latest compiled data.

Toyota, Honda and Suzuki dominate the country's industry, with the latter obtaining the highest growth of 31pct in 2015, overall; sale of cars built and assembled in Pakistan grew to 179,953 units in 2015 from 2014's 136,888.

In more detail, the core reason behind progress is the Yen's ongoing weakness against Pakistani rupee, thus helping car assemblers to buy imported spare parts for cheap prices, plus production is expected to rise as competition intensifies.

All in all, this substantial development in the nation's automobile segment strongly confirms an increasing per capita income in the Republic, improved economics of the auto sector and overall recovery of the economy.
