Jordan, Japan discuss security cooperation, regional developments

Amman, July 25 (Petra) -- Interior Minister Salameh Hammad and Member of the House of Representatives of Japan,Taro Kono, Monday, held talks on means to activate cooperation in security fields, and the latest developments in the region.

At the meeting, Hammad reviewed his ministry's work mechanism and tasks carried out through its various directorates across the Kingdom.

He said that Jordan and Japan are bound by close relations in various fields, particularly in the security and policing domains.

Talks also touched on combating terrorism which Hammad said requires concerted international efforts to eliminate it.

" The stability and security the Kingdom enjoys are credited to the wise Hashemite leadership which endeavors to make Jordan among leading countries in respecting human rights, and meeting the aspirations of Jordanians", Hammad remarked.

For his part, the Japanese official praised the advance level of development in Jordan's various domains.

He said his country considers Jordan a pillar for security and stability in the region due to its moderate position and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, besides its continuing quest to combat terrorism.

Kono also stressed Japan's continued support to Jordan in various political, economic, policing and security fields.
