Spain reports solid climb in housing sales over H1


(MENAFN) Spanish housing sales climbed by 11.1 percent in the 1st half as opposed to 2015's same period, and it have been surging for two consecutive years after sharp falls due to the financial crisis.

According to the latest data published by Spain's Statistical Office (INE), 354,132 house buying operations were logged in the Jan-June timeframe, with sales of second-hand houses hitting 276,267 and new ones 77,865.

Additionally, in 2008-09, housing sales deteriorated by 28.8 percent and 25.1 percent respectively and in 2011, 2012 and 2013 they deteriorated by 18.1 percent, 11.5 percent and 1.9 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, housing sales have increased by 6.8 percent on a year-on-year basis throughout the previous month alone, compared to a substantial 3.9 percent decrease registered through the preceding month.
