Japan's top oil firms fight to bag deals in Iran


(MENAFN) Japan has shown great interest in Iran's South Azadegan Oilfield through its own Marubeni Company, as it's preparing for a major investment there, based on recent data.

The Tokyo-based corporation has already has held several negotiations with Iranian officials for development of the Islamic Republic biggest oilfield which the country shares with Iraq.

Furthermore, South Azadegan is believed to hold an in-situ oil reserve of a whopping 33.2 billion barrels and its recoverable resources estimated at approximately 5.2 billion barrels.

Marubeni Corporation is the fifth-largest general trading company and has leading market shares in cereal and paper pulp trading as well as a strong electrical and industrial plant business.
