Volkswagen suffers greatly to restore smeared reputation

(MENAFN) Volkswagen failed to become the world's largest automaker in 2015, as Toyota globally produced 10.08 million units, some 150,000 vehicles ahead of the 9,930,600 units Volkswagen delivered to customers in the period.

Accordingly, the suffering automaker blew it not because of its diesel emissions scandal; it failed because it lost its ground in China, as it has lost its customers there along with its chance to achieve the targeted global domination.

Globally, the Volkswagen Group sold 206,000 fewer cars in 2015 than in the year before. 127,000, more than half of those lost cars, went awry in China, considering the Asian nation is VW's biggest single country market.

Furthermore, the Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer was undisputedly the automotive emperor of China, and to add insult to lost sales, it lost even that title to its Chinese nemesis General Motors.
