Qatar Charity distributes food in Myanmar QNA


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) has provided more food to people displaced in camps in Myanmar as part of its aid relief efforts since the end of 2013.

It said 5,568 people have benefited from this aid, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in these camps to 198,564 over almost three years.

The aid was distributed last month in cooperation with Turkish IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation. Each basket included dry foodstuff to help families secure basic supplies for a month, such as rice, beans, cooking oil, pepper and canned fish.

Mohammed Rashid Al Kaabi, Director, Relief Management, QC, praised support of people of Qatar for the needy in the world, including Muslims in Myanmar.

He stressed that QC assumes its religious and moral duty towards the needy and is keen to help refugees in tense areas.

QC has carried out more than QR11,500,000 worth of projects in Myanmar since December 2013, benefiting some 198,564 people so far, QC said in a statement yesterday.
