DOHA: Ezdan Real estate Company, a subsidiary of Ezdan Holding Group, has successfully installed 262,000 water-saving devices in over 15,000 of its residential units at Wukair, thereby reducing water consumption by nearly 60 percent, as envisaged under the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).

Group COO Dr Mousa Al Awwad said: 'Our strategy in supporting the rationalisation programme, stems from the vision of the State of Qatar that pays an exponential interest in matters of environment, health and education. This vision inspired us to devote our efforts to preserve natural resources, in order to make our experience a successful example in this field.”

He added: 'Ezdan Holding Group has been a pioneer in partnering with Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) through a memorandum of understanding, which thanks to Allah Almighty, we were able to implement a large portion of its provisions.”

In the short term, the group plans to introduce water-saving measures at its residential compounds in Doha, hotels and malls. 'We are proud to abide by the national vision of development and the preservation of the state";s resources for a more prosperous future for our children,” he said.

He commended Ezdan Real Estate";s technical staff for installing the water-saving devices at the residential units in record time.

Ezdan Real Estate Acting General Manager, Omar Al Yafey said: 'The specialised team has spared no efforts to implement this project during the previous period, and was able to accomplish the task with great success. Now, we have already started to witness positive results, showing that between 40 and 60 percent of the water has been conserved, and in some cases, even higher.”

Al Yafey said all the new projects were equipped with the latest technologies for rational utilisation of water, mainly Ezdan Oasis. The project will include more than 9,000 units and the first phase will become operational by the beginning of the first quarter next year.

Ezdan Holding Group was honoured at the ‘Tarsheed 4th Annual Celebration"; for its whole-hearted support of the programme, that is aimed at rationalising and optimising water consumption, as well as spreading awareness about the importance of water conservation.

In March 2014, Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of Ezdan Holding Group, signed an MoU with Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari Chairman of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). The MoU comes under the framework of Tarsheed";s plans, mechanisms and initiatives, aimed at limiting daily per capita water consumption within the country.
