China's ride-hailing services intensify rivalry

(MENAFN) Although only 127 million or 18.5pct from Chinese people access the Internet by cellphone, nearly 96.6 million of those, or one in 14 of the total population, ordered a taxi via the Internet in 2015 using mobile phones to do so.

Basically, Internet coverage development in the country has led to an inevitable boom in ride-hailing services, with Didi's app coming on top, not to mention it also helped expand public services, people's living standards and social harmony.

More firms, under the nation's "Internet Plus" initiative, have begun to make use of the Internet, especially social networks, for marketing, dissemination of information and internal management, thus the number of users is quickly rising.

"China entered the Internet era without completing the goals of modernization. It's a unique Chinese path and it's an unprecedented opportunity for China," said the deputy head of the School of Economics at Tsinghua University.
