Sales adds to South American flavour at Al Wahda

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Al Wahda FC are bringing in Brazilian player Tiago Alves Sales to spice up their South American continental flavour.

The Abu Dhabi club have reached a three-year agreement with South Korean club Seongnam for striker Sales, Al Wahda media centre director Elobeid Elrashid told Khaleej Times.

"It was a toss-up between striker Tiago Alves Sales and Flamengo club midfielder Everton Cardoso da Silva. Finally, the club went for Sales," Elrashid said.

"We took into account many aspects and Sales was picked," he added.

The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals in 18 games in the K League Classic.

Sales started his career with a three-year stint at Brazilian club Santos from 2011. He has been playing for various teams on loan and now lands at the Al Nahyan Stadium.

He will form a potent strike force with AGL top scorer and Argentinian goal machine Sebastian Tagliabue. Chilean midfielder Jorge Valdivia is the other South American player at the Abu Dhabi club. South Korea defender Rim Chang-woo fills up the fourth player foreign quota.

Al Wahda finished third in the 2015-16 League and with Sales joining forces, coach Javier Aguirre has enough firepower to challenge champions Al Ahli and Al Ain for top spot.

Aguirre & Co are training in Spain and Sales will soon be joining the team following his medical examination.
