HSBC and QC distribute gifts to workers

Doha: About 800 boxes that have personal hygiene items were distributed to the workers in Qatar as a ‘thank you"; for their help in building Qatar and to raise their health awareness

HSBC donated QR50,000 to QC, and the money was allocated to the project of distributing presents to the construction workers in Qatar. The presents included personal hygiene items and were distributed by some of the bank";s employees and some volunteers from QC.

Fifty employees from HSBC helped collect and arrange 800 boxes filled with presents; each box had 10 different types of personal hygiene items. After that, QC took the boxes so to distribute them to the workers during weekly visits paid by the volunteers. This campaign is part of the events of ‘Thank You"; campaign which was inaugurated to help the workers.

Mr. Abdul Hakim Mustafawi, HSBC";s CEO, said, 'The goal we try to achieve as a community is to influence and make a positive change in the societies we live in. This program, distribution of personal hygiene items, has a great impact on the workers of our society”.

Mustafawi also thanked the bank";s employees who spent their time organizing and wrapping the boxes. 'Such efforts have the greatest role in making charity work successful,” he added. Ali Ateeq Alabdullah, CEO at QC";s Local Development, said, 'We thank HSBC for donating to one of our humanitarian campaigns ‘Thank You"; which targets the workers. We also thank the employees of the bank who worked with the volunteers from QC to arrange the boxes. QC is always open to any initiatives that reinforce voluntary work and partnerships between humanitarian organizations and other private societies and financial and commercial institutions which make a positive change in the lives of the targeted groups”.

This campaign was inaugurated so to raise the awareness of the workers regarding health issues and outlooks. They were advised to drink lots of water and take care of their bodies. Such care would change their personal and work lives especially in summer. Some volunteers participated from Friends Cultural Center, part of QC, and visited the workers. They also delivered some speeches to raise their awareness about these matters, to thank them for the efforts they exert and to show their gratitude and understanding of the difficult circumstances these workers face.

In cooperation with Social Services Department at Hamad Hospital, this campaign";s first round took place during this year, in the last week of this Ramadan. 50 boxes were distributed to the ill workers in the hospital. Some of the hospital";s social specialists, QC";s volunteers and sponsored orphans participated in the field visit.

Years ago, QC inaugurated ‘Thank You"; campaign for the workers as a way to show gratitude for the role they play in building Qatar and its infrastructure. The campaign also aims at gathering all the tools they need for personal care and distribute them to the workers as gifts on the International Workers"; Day, which is on the 1st of May, and during other times.The Peninsula
