Iraqi forces kill IS leader's aide


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, July 23 (KUNA) -- Iraqi forces have killed a top aide of so-called Islamic State's (IS) leader in an operation carried out in the Diyala, northeast of Baghdad, the Defense Ministry said Saturday.

Forces from the Fifth Infantry Brigade killed Hashem Nasseef Jassem Al-Hayali, an aide of IS leader Abu Baker Baghdadi, and injuring some of people accompanying him.

The killing of Al-Hayali was a pre-emptive operation based on intelligence information, which led to his whereabouts, added the ministry. (end) ahh.bs
