The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has increased inspections at markets and shops in Dhofar as thousands of visitors flock to enjoy the salubrious khareef weather.

Dr Said bin Khamis al Kabi, chairman of PACP, recently visited Dhofar to check preparations for the season, stated a press release.

Dr Kabi visited some markets and shops and inspected measures taken by the authority, so that traders adhere to the consumer protection regulations. He also called upon them to treat consumers well without manipulating prices.

Ali bin Saleem al Basrawi, manager, Consumer Protection Administration in Dhofar, said, 'The authority has contracted with a company to build temporary offices in Eteen plains. It has also coordinated with Dhofar Municipality to establish offices inside the Salalah festival venue. In busy places like Hesn souq and the Central souq, the authority is using municipality offices.'

To safeguard rights of consumers, the authority is working closely with other government bodies like Dhofar Municipality, ROP, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Tourism, added the release.

In Dhofar, PACP is holding a mobile exhibition to create awareness about its work.

Basrawi called upon the public to report to the authority about any malpractice by traders.
