MP praises minister's decision to allocate hospital for Kuwaitis

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: MP Khalil Al- Saleh praised the decision of Health Minister Dr Ali Jaber Al-Obeidi to allocate a hospital for Kuwaitis in a bid to provide better medical services to citizens. He pointed out that health care is one of the main concerns of the Kuwaiti society, affirming the allocation of a hospital for citizens is a giant leap in the ongoing efforts to improve the health sector. He hopes all the concerned authorities will cooperate to push for the establishment of such hospitals in all governorates. The lawmaker added he supports all steps aimed at developing health services especially since health is the main pillar in sustainable development Earlier, the health minister was quoted as saying that Jaber Hospital will be for Kuwaitis only and it will be under international management. He explained the decision was taken after a specialized committee completed an extensive study in this regard with the approval of the Cabinet. He said the Ministry of Public Works will hand over the hospital to its health counterpart later this year. He also confirmed the construction of three health insurance hospitals for expatriates , indicating the ministry had previously signed this tender. In another development, Rapporteur of Educational Affairs Committee MP Hamoud Al-Hamdan warned he will not hesitate in using constitutional tools in case of non-compliance with work regulations in private universities. He disclosed he had earlier submitted questions on this matter and he is still waiting for answers. He clarified the National Assembly and the committee are willing to support academic institutions but they should fully abide by the regulations. He praised the pro-reform efforts exerted by the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAAET), hoping the other education institutions will follow suit. Moreover, he stressed that the Assembly plays a vital role in the ratification of many laws, revealing that 37 laws were passed in the current legislative round. He added the Parliament has discussed the budgets and final accounts of about 40 government agencies, not to mention many legislative achievements deemed beneficial to the country and its people. He pointed out this is the result of strong coordination between the legislative and executive authorities, as well as the parliamentary committees, which are working relentlessly to finalize discussions on various bills in the interest of the entire nation.
