Iran draws dozen key firms to its economical port

(MENAFN) A total of 15 top global shipping lines have chosen the Iran's southern Shahid Rajaei port as their port of call, considering it's the nation's largest commercial port, according to recent reports.

The main factor which helped the port rank as number one is the bulk discounts to shipping firms which reduced the final cost of entry of commodities, making it more economical compared to other Persian ports.

Additionally, Shahid Rajaei port has transformed into a major hub in recent months for shipping and transshipping activities mainly due to suitable facilities provided by Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization.

"Seven container ships operated by the Taiwanese shipping line are expected to call at Shahid Rajaei port to on-load and offload 5,000-6,000 TEU of containers per week," said the director of Hormuzgan Province Ports.
