UN special envoy for Yemen meets Yemeni government delegation

KUWAIT, 19th July, 2016 (WAM)--UN special envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, discussed today with the Yemeni government delegation to the peace consultations, being held in Kuwait, ways to implement the terms of reference and the agreements sponsored by the United Nations, to end the Yemeni crisis.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of key issues on the agenda, including the reinforcement of the cessation of hostilities and to activate the pacification and coordination commission, as well as local commissions, in addition to the formation of the military commissions, which will oversee the withdrawal, handover of arms, and opening of safe access to humanitarian aid corridors.

It is scheduled that the UN envoy will hold a series of bilateral peace consultations, along with his participation in a meeting called for by the commission on prisoners and detainees.
