The awareness campaign for promoting the importance of the Waqf Share for the society, launched by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in cooperation with Meethaq Islamic banking, has continued successfully.

The campaign aims to encourage the public to contribute to the Waqf Share with any amount in the ministry's bank account at Meethaq number 0611007700770017.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs manages the account and benefits from the donations in different goodwill aspects such as building mosques and Q'uran schools, printing Q'uran copies, supporting families in need and other charity matters.

Sulaiman bin Hamed al Harthy, deputy chief executive officer, Islamic Banking, Bank Muscat, said, 'We are pleased to partner again with the ministry in this campaign and achieve its objectives. Also, we would like to thank H E Sheikh Abdullahbin Mohammed al Salmi, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, and all officials at the ministry for their trust in Meethaq's role and efforts to serve local communities. In addition, we appreciate the ministry's collaboration with us to improve Islamic banking in Oman by launching various events and activities which identify and present Islamic banking potentials and services to the society.'

Harthy highlighted this fruitful partnership, which reflects Meethaq's goals to support such institutions in achieving the development in the communities. Through the campaign, Meethaq aims to contribute in promoting the giving culture and ideal behaviours reflected in the Waqf Share.

This contribution may result in consolidating positive social impacts on the society such as kindness, cooperation and harmony. In addition, he urges people to support the campaign with their continuous donations and charitable works, which contribute to build and strengthen the society.

Harthy appreciated the ministry's role in conducting the Waqf Share account and handling various goodwill projects such as building mosques and Q'uran schools, printing Q'uran copies, supporting families in need and other charity matters. Furthermore, Meethaq prepared a marketing plan to promote the awareness campaign and the ministry's account, including all media such as social media platforms, events and activities, which will play a significant role in defining the Waqf Share.

The plan describes the participation process and reveals the positive results on the local communities while implementing the campaign.
Harthy added, 'It is worth mentioning that Meethaq, when first established, intended to urge the public to carry out charity attitudes and works as reflected by the launch of the national campaign for Zakati in collaboration with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs conducted through diverse media platforms and lectures.

Harthy added, 'Meethaq joined hands with the leading charity organisation Dar Al Atta'a to place donation boxes across the sultanate to mobilise educational support for rural communities.

'The objective of the initiative is to mobilise donations from citizens and residents to build pre-primary classrooms in rural areas. All Meethaq branches across Oman are ready to receive donations through the ministry's Waqf Share account.'
