(MENAFN- Arab Times) In the face of complaint filed with the Constitutional Court regarding law that requires a nationwide compulsory DNA testing, acting Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs in the Interior Ministry Major General Asad Al-Ruwaih disclosed that the implementation of DNA Law may begin after issuance of the executive regulations and subsequent publishing in the official Gazette, reports Al- Rai daily.
He said the sector has yet to receive an official complaint in that concern, although they know about the aforementioned objection. He pointed out that Legal Affairs Department is reviewing the relevant defense mechanism. He also said study leave granted to personnel of the ministry has been suspended until further notice to reorganize vacations.
He added the Ministry of Interior is still running scholarships for bachelor's degree holders based on requests from Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for teaching staff, as well as needs of the ministry and its various departments. He pointed to the ministry's readiness to file cases against those involved in the wastage of public funds; stressing the charges filed against suspects will not be dropped with time, because the issue of public funds is redline.
Regarding cases filed with the Administrative Court by personnel of the Interior Ministry, Al-Ruwaih said the court does not accept complaints unless the employee has already filed a case at the place of work. He explained that complaints are carefully investigated before approval of rights, indicating unmerited complaints are usually dismissed.
Al-Ruwaih added the Department of Legal Affairs has since supervised the assessment of many laws, including electronic crimes, weapon collection, surveillance cameras, and DNA laws. He went on to discuss the draft law for raising residency fees and said the department concluded the document in collaboration with the Fatwa and Legislation Committee, and it will be referred to Cabinet in the coming days.
