QC begins Gaza school project

DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) has begun works on a project to build a school at a cost of QR2.2m in the east of Jabalia Camp north of Gaza.

Some 600 students (boys and girls) from Northern Province are expected to benefit. The project, financed by people in Qatar through donations, is being implemented by QC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Palestine. 'The new school ‘Kamal Al Uhud"; under construction will help meet the growing demands of schools in Gaza,” said Dr Ziyad Thabit, Undersecretary at the ministry. There is a severe shortage of schools and teachers and at least 200 new schools are needed in Gaza, he added. 'The project aims to provide primary education to the students of Azba Abd Rabah area east of Jabliya,” said Mohamad Abu Halub, Head, QC office in Gaza.

France boosts security

NICE: France";s Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve boosted security measures across the country, calling upon thousands of reservists following the Bastille Day truck attack in Nice late on Thursday.
