Yemeni president, UN special envoy discuss peace efforts

RIYADH, 16th July 2016 (WAM) --- Yemeni President, Abd-Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, and Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, today met to discuss the developments in Yemen.

Yemen's state news agency noted that the UN special envoy continues to meet Yemeni political powers as part of a bid to achieve successful peace in the country based on the resolutions of the international legitimacy, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf Cooperation Council's Initiative and the outcome of Yemen's National Dialogue Conference.

President Hadi stressed that he takes great interest in achieving peace that serves the interests of the Yemeni people and in that the political powers and advisers should understand the importance of resuming peace efforts that serve the aspirations of the Yemenis without wasting time or perpetuating their suffering.

The UN special envoy underlined the importance of the set foundations and terms of reference that are instrumental for establishing peace that Yemenis deserve.
