Iran, Turkey agree to open new page in gas trade
(MENAFN) Strong predictions projects that Iran will resolve its difference with Turkey over gas pricing by the end of this month, based on the latest reports.
In accordance, Iran is ready to increase gas exports to Turkey which is now getting 10 billion cubic meters of gas under a 25-year contract signed in 1996.
Turkey claims Iran's price is too high, charging USD490 per 1,000 cubic meters versus USD335 and USD425 by Azerbaijan and Russia respectively.
Additionally, the Islamic Republic is Turkey's second supplier of gas after Russia, providing for one-fifth of the nation's needs. Azerbaijan is another supplier.
