Biloso set to take over at Al Arabi

DOHA: Jirado Biloso the new coach of the team Arab Club, arrived in Doha late on Wednesday. He has been contracted with the club";s management to train the team next season after the sacking of Gianfranco Zola.

He was received at the Hamad International Airport by Adil Beseiri, team manager, and Mojtaba Syed Jafar of the administrative team.

It is expected that the new coach will meet with the club";s management soon to agree on the details of the contract. Once the contract is formally signed, the new coach will lead the training sessions tomorrow.

Biloso";s career has a rich history as he has been involved in training a number of teams in his home country of Uruguay. Al Arabi started training on Tuesday evening, led by Joseph Adam, the Assistant Coach to Jirado Biloso and had the presence and participation of 17 players. Players will get a rest today and tomorrow and will resume training tomorrow.

Meanwhile Lekhwiya completed the first training session in Austria in the rain on Wednesday evening in the Austrian town of Bad Haring.

The training session began at six in the evening. The team was dedicated in training and the coaching staff focused on physical exercises on the first day of the team in the camp.

The team training session was completed during heavy downpour as the Austrian city was experiencing a rainy day. The team is scheduled to train tomorrow in two shifts.

Lekhwiya arrived in Austria on Wednesday morning to attend the camp, which runs until the 30th of July.

Also yesterday, it was announced that the Gulf Football Federation (GFF) held a key meeting under the chairmanship of Secretary General Jassim Al Rumaihi.

During the meeting, matters relating to Marketing and Competition Committees were discussed in detail.

At a previous meeting, the formation of legal, finance and other football-related committees were elaborately discussed. The previous meeting was headed by GFF President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani who is also the chief of the Qatar Football Association (QFA).

Mansoor Al Ansari, Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Buainain, Ahmed Al-Harami and Abdul Rahman Abdo are four new Qatari football officials inducted into the GFF fold holding various portfolios, details showed on Wednesday.

Other regional officials assigned new tasks include Hamid Al-Shaibani, Tariq Ahmed, Abdullah Hayani and Mohammed Al Newaiser.

Al Rumaihi said a lot of work still remains for the body to operate smoothly.

He said a number of key decisions will be made in the coming meetings that will be held frequently.

He said committee heads will form their teams and submit periodical reports to the Executive Committee of the GFF.

He said the Executive Committee of GFF will provide every assistance to the concerned committees.

Al Rumaihi said the new office-bearers are seasoned hands, knowing their roles well.The Peninsula
