Kuwait- 'Strict steps taken to improve airport, border posts security'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs in the Ministry of Interior Major General Khalid Al-Saqabi disclosed that the number of passengers who entered and exited through the borders and Kuwait International Airport from July 5-9, 2016 totaled 920,184.

In a press conference, Al-Saqabi said the total number of departures and arrivals amongst GCC nationals through the borders reached 88,232 € 39,171 departures and 49,061 arrivals through Salmi, Abdally and Nuweiseb borders. He added the number of citizens who came through the three borders during the same period reached 34,004 whereas those leaving the country reached 50,621.

Al-Saqabi went on to say the total number of departures and arrivals at Kuwait International Airport from June 25 to July 9, 2016 reached 422,332 € 40,565 were arrivals and 88,500 departures amongst Kuwaitis whereas the number of departures and arrivals amongst GCC nationals through the airport reached 23,617 € 14,443 departures and 9,174 arrivals.

He also confirmed the continuous efforts to improve the General Airport Security Department in line with the latest developments in the field of airport security and safety of travelers through strong coordination with other concerned authorities at the airport and by conducting training courses as well as installing modern equipment.

He hailed the good efforts exerted by all staff working in the Border Security Affairs Sector, as evident during peak seasons when the volume of arriving and departing passengers is high. He also urged all citizens and expatriates to fully cooperate with the authorities to ensure the success of ongoing efforts to guarantee the safety of everyone and maintain national security.
