According to the Bahrain News Agency, BNA, the blast caused the death of a Bahraini woman who was driving on the opposite side of the road towards Sitra. A second car was damaged in the explosion, as were some nearby shops and both public and private property.

Those arrested have been named as Hassan Jassim Hassan Al Haiki, 35, and Hussain Ibrahim Ali Hussain Marzooq, 26. Both are also suspected of having received military training in the assembly of explosives, planting of bombs and the use of weapons in Iran.

Further suspects include Hussain Ahmed Abdullah Ahmed Hussain, 27, who works for a private company. He is a fugitive in Iran and has close links with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. He was previously convicted in a number of cases related to bomb making and murder.
