Morocco- 5+5 Dialogue Ministerial Conference Calls for Assessing Climate Change Impacts on Tourism


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Tourism Ministers from the countries of the 5 + 5 Dialogue called, on Monday in Casablanca, to identify and share assessment studies of climate change impacts on tourism made by Western Mediterranean countries.

Algeria, Spain, France, Italy, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Mauritania, Portugal and Tunisia have agreed to encourage the collection and analysis of results of greenhouse gas emissions in the main tourist destinations of Western Mediterranean countries in a statement issued at the 4th meeting of the 5+5 tourism ministerial conference named "Casablanca declaration" on tourism and changes climate.

These countries also stressed the importance of mobilizing 5+5 Dialogue member countries at the COP22 to share their experiences and best practices in the fight against climate change and the promotion of sustainable tourism.

On that occasion, they stressed the need to build on the achievements of this Conference to create spin-off projects for mitigating or adapting to climate change in the tourism sector in the region.

The 4th 5+5 tourism ministerial, held under the theme "Tourism and Climate Change", brought together ministers and ambassadors of the countries of the western Mediterranean to discuss relations between climate factors, tourism activities and adaptation and mitigation needs to address climate change in a fragile context.
