Ford Creates Contest to Design App for Moroccan Taxis

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) The American car company Ford announced Monday the beginning of a contest to develop an app that would be used by Moroccan taxis to increase efficiency and speed of service. Called 'Code4Cabs,' the app submissions should be able to help drivers to navigate and find passengers sooner and help to decrease wait times for passengers.

'Taxi sharing has a long history in Morocco,' Ford said in a video announcing the contest. 'It's a great custom, but it comes with a downside. It may be hard to find a taxi, they may already be full, or you may be refused service if your destination isn't in the direction the taxi is headed. Your ride may take longer than expected because of the delay filling seats or the other passengers' stops.'

The contest is open to companies and individuals. The winner of the contest will receive $30,000.

An additional award will be given to apps that can allow passengers to select their co-passengers and pick them up along their route, help travellers who arrived in the city by plane or train to connect with taxi drivers while still en route, or improve security for female passengers who wish to share a ride.

Applications and submissions can be done on the Code4Cabs website. http://code4cabs.devpost.com/
