Russian, Indian Militaries to Launch Talks on Indra 2016 Drills

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Moscow, July 12 (QNA) - The final leg of talks between Russia and India on the Indra 2016 joint war games began Tuesday in Russia's Far Eastern coast, a senior military spokesman of the Eastern Military District said.
Russian and Indian armed forces are expected to participate in three major exercises this year – the Indra Neva 2016 naval training, AviaIndra 2016 air and anti-aircraft drills, and Indra 2016 combined-arms exercise, according to the Russian (Sputnik) News Agency.
"At this state of consultations, military representatives in charge of conducting the exercises on both sides will discuss proceedings of joint maneuvers and sign the final protocol at the conference," Roman Martov said.
The Indra exercises were first held in 2003. They aim at increasing interoperability between the Russian and Indian forces. The Russian Defense Ministry estimates a total of 500 service members will take part in the drills. (QNA)
