Kuwait and Bahrain discuss security cooperation

KUWAIT, 12th July, 2016 (WAM) -- Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defence, Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and visiting Bahraini Minister of Interior, Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, yesterday discussed bilateral security coordination and cooperation.

The Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted the Interior Ministry's information office as saying that both ministers had considered ways of enhancing bilateral security efforts in order to address the current regional security developments.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah stressed the depth of distinguished and historical relations between both Gulf nations, pointing to the political leadership's instructions for further promoting and cementing their deep-rooted bonds.

He highly commended such visits and meetings as providing chances to exchange views on regional security challenges and how to consolidate security cooperation between both sides, according to the ministry.

Al-Sabah added that he and the Bahraini minister shared the same views on a host of regional security issues that concern Kuwait and Bahrain.

The Bahraini Minister thanked his Kuwaiti counterpart for the warm welcome and hospitality afforded him, underlining the significance of security cooperation in the light of various criminal phenomena and issues that necessitate closer cooperation within the GCC.

He voiced satisfaction with the outcomes of his talks with Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah as "fruitful, constructive and positive".
