Doha: Sanjiv Arora, Indian Ambassador to Qatar and patron of Indian Business & Professional Network (IBPN), an apex community organisation functioning under the aegis of the Indian Embassy here for promotion of trade, investment and other business collaborations between both countries, convened a meeting of IBPN Managing Committee at the embassy";s new premises in Dafna/West Bay.

Several new initiatives and proposals were finalised.

“IBPN is an important organisation of the Indian community in Qatar and the embassy attaches high priority to its activities,” Arora said after the meeting.

“The embassy has extended support to the new proposals and initiatives discussed at the meeting and would continue to assist IBPN in achieving these goals,” said Arora, who is also the patron of all three apex bodies under the embassy.

The meeting lasted more than an hour and was attended by Yasir Nainar, General secretary; Sujata Zinzuwadia, Head of Finance; and T M Kabeer, member of the Managing Committee.

“The business environment and the organisational requirements have changed drastically compared to the times when IBPN was established more 15 years ago. A restructuring is urgently needed,” said K M Varghese, President, IBPN. “We propose some changes to the constitution, and develop a more broad- based membership structure. “We will also have events and programmes that are more member-centric,” he added.

Arora also accompanied the participants on a brief tour of the new premises, especially the enhanced facilities for the public.
