Japan PM to order to draw up new stimulus after election win


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, July 11 (KUNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Monday his Cabinet will compile fresh economic stimulus measures to boost the economy, following a landslide victory by the governing coalition in a parliamentary elections.

In a press conference, Abe confirmed that he will instruct Economic and Fiscal Policy Minister Nobuteru Ishihara on Tuesday to begin preparation to compile a new fiscal package as he promised in his campaign pledge for Sunday''s Upper House election. Under the stimulus measures, the government plans to improve infrastructure nationwide, including high-speed railways and ports, to attract foreign tourists, and to promote agriculture exports from rural areas, Abe said. 2The government will study the size of the measures from now," he added.

Abe''s ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner Komeito secured a majority of contested seats in Sunday''s Upper House election, winning 70 seats in the chamber.

The coalition already holds more than two-thirds of the seats in the more powerful Lower House. (end) mk.tg
