Ghana predicts gas yield to soar in 3 years

(MENAFN) Ghana's gas production will triple by 2019 to give more impetus to thermal power production, according to the latest reports, especially with the new fields currently under development.

Accordingly, whereas the yield will touch a total of 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, oil production will also reach between 180,000 and 200,000 barrels of oil per day.

However, oil output on Ghana's Jubilee field, which creates an average of 105 bopd, has been suspended as the turret bearing on production vessel FPSO Kwame Nkrumah was damaged.

This has also affected the delivery of natural gas to the Atuabo gas processing plant for use by the nation's thermal plants while at the same time gas delivery from Nigeria has reduced to nearly 10pct.
