Oman- Q'uran recitation competition held

Oman Avenues Mall recently concluded a Q''uran recitation competition, which commenced concurrently with the holy month of Ramadan.
The event witnessed the participation of 70 children from different segments and nationalities. Both male and female children participated in the competition. The awards ceremony to honour the winners was attended by H E Sheikh Mohana bin Saif al Lamki, Wali of Bausher. It was conducted in the presence of members and judges from the Omani Association for Care of the Holy Q''uran, who participated in organising and judging the competition. The competition was held on the third floor party hall of Oman Avenues Mall. The participants were divided into three groups and had to read a specific number of sections from the Q''uran on the basis of their age group. The first place winners of each groups were as follows. The level one winner was Abdul Malik bin Khalid Busaid and the level two winner was Azzan bin Hafez al Barwani. The level 3 winner was Hafsa Sufiane al Hilaliyah. The objective of the competition was to promote the method of the Q''uran in children and youngsters, educating them to follow the Q''uranic approach, thereby contributing in disseminating Islamic and Q''uranic culture and also taking advantage of the holy month of Ramadan in addition to the summer holiday for allowing children to access the Book of Allah. Ben Watson, general manager, Oman Avenues Mall, said, ''We''re pleased to have held such a successful event for the community and to be first to have done this in the private sector. We look forward to conducting this wonderful event again next year.''
