DUBAI, 10th July, 2016 (WAM) -- Dar Al Ber Society, as part of its annual Ramadan programme, contributed 21,000 free meals to drivers at different sites across the emirates of Dubai, Ajman, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah, at Iftar or Fast-ending time, according to Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, Executive Director of Dar Al Ber.

"Well-trained staff agents and volunteers did the job in an exceptional and professional way in the four emirates before fast-ending time every day during the Holy Month of Ramadan."

The pioneering scheme was conducted in collaboration with charity bodies in the four emirates, he added. "Up to 700 meals were distributed to drivers at road intersections and traffic signals in the four emirates."

Dar Al Ber meanwhile ran its main ''Iftar'' campaign this Ramadan at 27 different sites across the country.

"Up to 8,500 people of different nationalities and ages benefited from the free meals that were distributed at nine sites in Dubai, seven in Ras al-Khaimah, seven in Ajman, and four in Fujairah," he said.

Khalid Al Khajah, Manager of Dar Al Ber in Ajman, said the project is part of the Ramadan Campaign launched this year under the theme: ''Make them happy''. "The project is meant to bring happiness and satisfaction to all segments of society, be they Emiratis, residents, or tourists, as directed by the UAE''s prudent leadership."

Hisham Al Zahrani, Deputy Head of Community Service Sector, Dar Al Ber, said the seasonal programme saw significant participation from a large number of volunteers. "This reflects the deeply-rooted culture of voluntary and charity work in Emirati society, and how positive and responsive all nationals and residents here are," he said.
