DOHA: A charity organisation from Qatar has hosted 500 orphan children with their families to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr in the Jordanian capital Amman in a bid to bring smiles on their faces.

The children were given Eid gifts comprising toys and some cash. Families of orphans and those caring them were also honoured and provided financial support.

It is part of an initiative launched by Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) to hold Eid programmes for 2,500 orphans in Jordan, Sudan and Indonesia.

The initiative entitled “Farhat Yatim” (happiness for orphans) aims to provide financial and moral support to children to make them happy on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, said a statement.

The programme was attended by senior officials of RAF including Dr Ayed bin Dabsan Al Qahtani, General Manager and Chairman, Board of Trustees, and Dr Yahya bin Hamad Al Naimi, Head of Local Development Department.

Representatives from Nida Al Khair charity organisation, partner of RAF in Jordan, also participated in the programme.

RAF has executed many development projects like housing and education worldwide to care for orphans, said Al Naimi.

RAF considers orphans as future human resource for their countries. They would grow up to rebuild their countries destroyed by natural disasters and unrest, he added.

Therefore, we launched income generation projects for them followed by free education programmes, said Al Naimi.
