Qatar- Katara Eid activities attract GCC visitors


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Colourful bursts of light cover the Doha skyline as people watch pyrotechnics at Cultural Village Foundation — Katara. The fireworks were part of Eid festivities attended by people from Qatar and other GCC countries.

DOHA: The four-day events organised by the Cultural Village Foundation— Katara to mark Eid Al Fitr attracted huge crowd from Qatar and other GCC countries.

A musical show under the theme “A Child’s Dream” was staged at Katara esplanade with three-daily performances in Arabic and English.

In the play, a child dreams of celebrating Eid with his friends.

Hussein Al Khalidi, a tourist from Saudi Arabia, said Eid Festival of Katara is famous in the entire GCC. “I have come here to enjoy the festival with my family. We enjoyed all the shows here and we are happy with the facilities provided by the authorities.

Ahmed Al Rashid from UAE said he came here with friends to see all the programmes organised by Katara. He added his friends especially liked the show “A Child’s Dream”.

General Manager of Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, said Katara organised more number of events this year compared to last year. The programmes ranged from entertainment, knowledge-based and were created to entertain audience of all ages.

These programmes provide a good opportunity for families and friends to come and meet. He said that the programmes were aimed at attracting wider audiences that add real value to Qatar’s cultural and tourism scene.

Katara beach also attracted a huge number of visitors during the festivities. The visitors enjoyed swimming and beach-games with family members.
