(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dar Al Ber Society (DABS) will annually contribute Dh500,000 to students of low-income families at the Ajman University of Science & Technology (AUST).
The leading 37-year-old university, based in Ajman, will reduce the academic fees for DABS staffers, who wish to study there, by 20 per cent, as well as their children, in return, according to Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, executive director of the society. The move followed two agreements the society inked with the Thamer Fund for Educational Solidarity (TFES), and the Ajman University of Science & Technology. "However, the quota assigned for Dar Al Ber staff and children shall not exceed 10 per cent of the total seats in law, media, business administration, IT, education and basic science." The first memorandum of understanding was signed by Abdullah Ali bin Zayed and Abdullah Al Mazrouie, Chairman of TSFES, whereas the second pact was inked by Dr Khalid Al Khaja, president, AUST, and Khalid Abdulwahhab of DABS, Ajman branch. "Both sides, as agreed, will co-sponsor scientific conferences and seminars on best charitable and humanitarian practices and other relevant aspects," Bin Zayed added. "We will also exchange researches and studies on charity investment and alms management." A joint committee will activate and develop the strategic partnership between the two sides to meet on a biennial basis to review and evaluate the initiatives and projects assumed, he elaborated. "The Ajman University will run advanced programmes, courses, and workshops on an array of fields as requested by Dar Al Ber to develop the performance of DABS staff," he stated.
