Morocco Seeks to Turns Culture into Driver of Economic Growth

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) The Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) adopted a strategy that supports cultural manifestations, encourages investment, and development of new university courses, based upon a recent report on the economy of culture. They predict that with this plan Moroccan culture will help Morocco develop and grow as a whole.

This decision came from CESE''s 63rd session, presided by Nizar Baraka. This project was voted on by council members and received unanimous approval.

''The Council recommends developing a national strategy on culture and creation, putting culture at the heart of the Moroccan project of society and development, and to integrate them in different public policies and develop a public service in culture as a right,'' said CESE in a statement.

Rather than just establishing new governmental programs, this strategy hopes to promote new creation and entrepreneurship from Moroccans through investment in education and fine arts.

They also encourage starting cultural and fine arts education at a younger age, implementing cultural aspects into the education system.

Cultural development, and the idea of a cultural economy, has been a leading strategy for the Moroccan government to promote tourism and economic growth throughout the country.
